REGISTRATION IS STILL OPEN - WE EXPECT TO BE ON THE DIAMONDS THIS SPRING.
For Players, Parents and Coaches
March 12, 2020
At Northwest Zone Softball and the High Park Community League, people are our priority. This includes all of our Players, Parents and Coaches as well as their extended families.
With the number of cases of COVID-19 growing in Canada, and the World Health Organization declaring a global health emergency, I want to ensure you have up-to-date information on our preparedness to minimize the risk of this infection spreading in our softball community.
While the risk level associated with COVID-19 currently remains low in Canada, we have been advised to anticipate changes in the coming weeks as more people get tested for COVID-19. Each day, the Government of Canada provides up to date information on the spread of the virus across Canada:
After much consideration and advisement, we have come to determine that it is our responsibility as an organization to do our part to minimize the spread of the virus. Therefore, effective immediately, we have implemented a Social Distance Policy for all board members, coaches and volunteers and that all INDOOR softball-related activities will be postponed until further notice.
This includes, the U6/U8 Spring Development Camp scheduled to start on Monday, the on-going U10-U19 Pitching Camp on Monday evenings and all indoor training sessions for U6 though U19 scheduled to begin this Saturday.
We will continue to work with the City of Edmonton, the Edmonton Youth Softball Association and the Northwest Zone Softball Association to monitor and assess the COVID-19 situation and the level of risk associated with both indoor and outdoor gatherings and will make adjustments to the Social Distance Policy as needed.
Please know that the decision to postpone all indoor softball activities was a very difficult one to make and we understand that all of our players were looking forward to beginning their indoor training this weekend and I would like to extend a warm and heartfelt “thank you” to all our parents for their assistance in speaking with our players regarding the precautionary measures we have taken.
We will keep you posted on any further developments. If you do have any questions, please do not hesitate to reply to this e-mail and we will respond as quickly as possible.
I look forward to seeing all the High Park teams out on the diamonds this spring and will be sending updates as I have them.
