COVID-19 Update

REGISTRATION CLOSED - SEASON CANCELLED

For Players, Parents and Coaches

April 9, 2020

At Northwest Zone Softball and the High Park Community League, people are our priority. This includes all of our Players, Parents and Coaches as well as their extended families.

With the number of cases of COVID-19 growing in Canada, and the World Health Organization declaring a global health emergency, I want to ensure you have up-to-date information on our preparedness to minimize the risk of this infection spreading in our softball community.

While the risk level associated with COVID-19 currently remains low in Canada, we have been advised to anticipate changes in the coming weeks as more people get tested for COVID-19. Each day, the Government of Canada provides up to date information on the spread of the virus across Canada:

https://www.canada.ca/en/publichealth/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection.html

After much consideration and advisement, we have come to determine that it is our responsibility as an organization to do our part to minimize the spread of the virus. Therefore, effective immediately, we have implemented a Social Distancing Policy for all board members, coaches and volunteers and that all softball-related activities will be cancelled for the 2020 season and until further notice.

This includes, all indoor and outdoor camps, training sessions and practices as well as all outdoor regular season, tournament and playoff games.

Please know that the decision to cancel the 2020 softball season was a very difficult one to make and we understand that all of our players were looking forward to the season and I would like to extend a warm and heartfelt “thank you” to all our parents for their assistance in speaking with our players regarding the precautionary measures we have taken.

We will keep you posted on any further developments.

Thank you!

-Jeff
